Responsible gambling
Play responsibly, or not at all.
Minimum ages, free helplines and self-exclusion programs for every province we cover.
Gambling involves risk and can be addictive. Casino gaming is a form of entertainment with a cost, like a concert ticket or a meal out. It is not a way to make money. Most people who visit a casino resort never set foot on the gaming floor, and that's a perfectly good way to enjoy a stay.
Minimum ages and helplines
You must be of legal age to enter a casino gaming floor. Bring government-issued photo ID, as venues check.

Keep it in check
- Set a budget before you go and only bring that amount.
- Set a time limit and take regular breaks.
- Never chase losses or borrow money to gamble.
- Don't gamble when you're stressed, upset or have been drinking.
- Balance gaming with other activities: the spa, a show, dinner, the outdoors.
Warning signs
It may be time to talk to someone if you spend more than you planned, hide gambling from people close to you, feel anxious when you're not gambling, or gamble to win back losses. Help is free and confidential, and you can call any of the helplines above at any time.
Self-exclusion
Every province offers voluntary self-exclusion, which lets you ban yourself from gaming venues for a set period. Ask at any venue's responsible gambling information centre, or contact:
- Ontario: OLG's My PlayBreak program lets you exclude yourself from Ontario's land-based gaming sites.
- Quebec: Loto-Québec runs a voluntary self-exclusion program for its casinos, including Lac-Leamy and Charlevoix.
- British Columbia: BCLC's Game Break program lets you exclude yourself from BC casinos and community gaming centres.
- Alberta: AGLC runs a voluntary self-exclusion program covering Alberta casinos and racing entertainment centres.
- New Brunswick: New Brunswick offers voluntary self-exclusion. Ask at Casino New Brunswick or call the NB helpline above.
More support
- Responsible Gambling Council: information and tools for players and families.
- Gamblers Anonymous: peer support meetings across Canada.
- If you're worried about someone else, the provincial helplines above also support family and friends.
